ROCK ISLAND AUCTION: PREMIERE FIREARMS SALE, SEPT 11th

The highlight of Rock Island’s fall premiere auction is s rare and important Colt Walker. The gun, E Company 22 is the only known engraved Walker. A second engraved Colt offered in the sale, a Single Action Army, was taken from the body of Bob Dalton after the Coffeyville raid and is accompanied by extensive documentation.

Other fabulous firearms in this sale include a trio of Manrico Torcoli engraved Fabbri over and unders, a cased pair of high art exhibition pistols by Brun of Paris  and a pair of chiseled and damascened all metal percussion pistols by Eusobio Zuloaga in Madrid.

SOFE DESIGN: WORLD ARMS AND ARMOUR, AUG 29th

Sofe Design’s Sale of August 29th includes a superb array of attractive and collectible arms and armour.  Antique edged weapons from all over the world are well represented in the catalog.  Among the fine Japanese swords offered is an exhibition sword by Fijiwara Fuyuhito.
Pictured is a very attractive 18th C Saxon Nobleman’s rapier offered. Other swords in the sale include Ottoman shamshirs, a fine Dagestani shamshir with niello as well as numerous European and Indo-Persian examples from the last three centuries
The sale also includes firearms such as the spectacular pair of Spanish flintlock pistols, a coral inlaid Algerian piston and a pair of ottoman pistols with holster from the Rudolph Valentino collection. POOK & POOK, ANTIQUE ARMS & MILITARIA JULY30th

An F&I war powder horn dated 1758 is one of the leading lots in Pook and Pook’s upcoming sale. The horn, inscribed by Samuel McNeill in may 1758 at fort Edward,  has extensive provenance including the Bill Guthman collection. It is one of several in the sale. Also offered is a letter signed by George Washington, an engraved cattle brand cased colt SAA, a Lehigh county flintlock pistol and a Garde du Corps du Roil French model 1816 flintlock pistol.

AUCTIONS IMPERIAL, ARMS & ARMOUR, JUNE 27th

Auctions Imperial sale of June 27th includes a wise range of fine antique arms. Their sales typically include a good selection of Indo-Persian, Mughal and Ottoman arms in addition to early European arms and armour. Good examples of ethnographic weaponry are also included in the sale. Pictured is a fine mid 18th C. jade handled shamshir, one of the top lots in the sale. Other fine edged weapons in the sale include Greek and Polish examples.

Among the armour in the sale is a fine suit of German black and white armour. A scarce Moro armour is also offered as well as a fine Mughal mail coat and an Indian char aina armour.  There are many other collectible arms and armour lots at a wide range of estimates in the sale. Arms, Armour & Antiques, Antikvity Praha: June 13th

Antikvity Praha are holding their regular Arms and Antiques sale on June 13th. Among the armour lots offered in the sale are a full German etched armour for the field and a spectacular parade shield, hammered chiseled and embossed with battle scenes.

Among the rarer swords in the sale is a broadsword for the lifeguards regiment of King Christian VII of Denmark. Other swords include a good Venetian schiavona, several Hungarian sabres, a highly decorative presentation sabre and a French Hussars sabre M 1777. Guns in the sale include a percussion shotgun/rifle by Kuchenreuter, a Colt revolving carbine and a beautifully embellished queen Ann pistol by Massin. Click on the image for a link to the sale.



HERMANN HISTORICA, ARMS, ARMOUR & HISTORICAL COLLECTIBLES: MAY 25th-29th

A rare and iconic swept hilt fighting sword by Wolfgang Stadler for the town guard of Munich C. 1600 is one of the many fine lost in Herman Historica’s Spring sale. Other rare swords include fine Viking examples, a European sword with Japanese shakodu hilt, several deluxe rapiers and a superb north Indian khanda.

Among Antique firearms included in the seven catalog sale are fine ottoman tufek, a khanjar over and under flintlock pistol and several fine Japanese matchlock guns. Among the European guns offered from the Duval collection sale are a superb wheellock for two superimposed loads, several pairs of puffers and a rare air pistol by Bates of London C 1770. Among the guns in other sections of the sale are a pair of Bohemian wheellocks C. 1640 and a cased pair of saw handled flintlock with detachable stock by Mortimer. ROCK ISLAND AUCTION, PREMIERS AUCTION: MAY 22nd-24th

A superb pair of flintlock pistols by Boutet, Paris are one of the headline lots in Rock Islands Premier sale of May 24th. The pistols were presented by the merchants of the Ile de France to French naval officer Cesar-Joseph Bourayne due to his success in defeating the British H.M.S. Laurel which was blockading the island.

Other Spectacular lots in the sale include a set of four Holland and Holland double rifles engraved by Alan Brown, 1 of only 3 S&W lever action repeating rifles known to exist, an Historic Texas “national Treasure” A company No. 50 Colt walker and a Colt Model 1874 Gatling gun. Sofe Design auction are holding an antique art and weaponry auction on May 30th. Included are many highly decorative and desirable  weapons such as the gold and silver mounted Kastane from Sri Lanka. The catalog includes and strong representation of Caucasian, Indo Persian and eastern arms.

CZERNY'S AUCTION 100, IMPORTANT MILITARIA : May 2nd

Czerny’s are holding their Militaria and Arms and Amour sales on March 27th and 28th . Pictured is a rare form of Indian polouar sword, gold inlaid with its original scabbard. The top lots in the sale include an exquisitely decorated flintlock double French sporting gun and a south German late 17th C rifle, highly decorated, with historical provenance.  Also in this category is an extraordinary 19th C shotgun by Gastinne Renette with extensive decorative gold elements and Egyptian motifs.

A Japanese katana signed by Masatsuga carries the highest starting bid of the sale at 32000 EU. Other highly decorative lost include Kilij and Shamshirs, European armour and a superb matching set of 2 Brescian  pistols and a fowler. Click on the image for a link to the sale.



PROBUS AUCTION, STOCKHOLM: ARMS & ARMOUR APRIL 20TH

Probus Auctioner are holding their spring sale on April 20th. The fully illustrated catalog with online bidding is now available. The sale includes a wide variety of fine arms and amour from around the world spanning different historic epochs and diverse cultures.

Pictured is a fine Nuremberg wheelock puffer pistol C 1580, one of several wheelock sin the sale. Other top lots include rare Swedish and Russian swords, a fine German rapier and Eastern Europeans early war hammer, a selection of fine Japanese edged weapons.

Among the lots of Eastern interest are an Ottoman miquelet lock gun and a very good cased Persian Khanjar dagger. For American buers the sale includes a Colt Navy owned by Johhny Cash.
